Vivi and Archmage Aeris comradeship and research alliance

New Life as a Max Level Archmage

Vivi and Archmage Aeris comradeship and research alliance links the world’s legendary past to its uncertain future. Their relationship began in the campaigns against the Cataclysms, when both were counted among the heroes who fought to save the mortal lands, and it is renewed after Vivi’s return more than a century later. The alliance becomes practical rather than merely commemorative: Vivi brings extraordinary experience, experimental designs, and direct knowledge of a dimensional fracture, while Archmage Aeris offers institutional expertise, intellectual judgment, and a trusted place to test theories about threats that could exceed the remembered disasters.

Battlefield Comradeship

Archmage Aeris regards Vivi, under her full identity as Vivisari Vexaria, as a living legend rather than an ordinary visitor. He recalls her as the strongest member of the Party of Heroes, the group that triumphed over the seventh and final Cataclysm a hundred years earlier, though the victory cost the lives of all the other heroes except the Sorceress. In the present, his relief at finding her alive and healthy after so many years reveals that their connection is rooted in shared history, not simple admiration. He also acknowledges that many men and women were heroes during those campaigns, while Vivi’s distinction was her overwhelming strength.

That heroic history has been transformed into public memory. Prismarche’s Temple displays stained-glass images of saints and heroes, including a prominent representation of Vivi and her party, while the city’s Peace Day Festival marks a century since the Cataclysms were defeated. The younger generation knows those horrors chiefly through the gruesome record of the Rampant Genesis, the Crimson Blight, and the Great Conflagrations, yet the city continues to revere the Party of Heroes because it was saved from those terrors. Vivi and Aeris therefore meet not only as former comrades but as people whose private experience has become the foundation of a civilization’s ritual history.

Reunion After Vivi’s Return

Aeris’s reaction to Vivi’s arrival is unusually intense. He had assumed that the appearance of a legendary figure after a century meant that circumstances were already dire, and her presence produces visible terror before his understanding catches up with him. Vivi’s reassurance is deliberately limited: the Dragon King could still descend from the Sky-Pillar Range, an ancient horror could awaken, and another Shattered Oracle could emerge, but she sees no evidence that such a catastrophe is happening at that instant. Aeris accepts this distinction with palpable relief, straightens himself, and apologizes for having assumed too much.

The reunion immediately becomes a renewed bond of service. Aeris tells Vivi that his old bones are available for whatever task she requires, large or small. When she explains that she recently witnessed a major dimensional anomaly in Prismarche and helped the local guard send a report to the Institute, he recognizes the diagrams associated with the report as hers. His pleasure at identifying her work shows that the alliance is intellectually personal: the designs carry the signature of someone he knew before the century-long separation.

The Dimensional Research Alliance

Vivi seeks Aeris because the anomaly appeared close enough to her return to make coincidence suspicious. She accepts that a dimensional fracture could arise naturally, but its timing warrants additional attention. Her warning against trusting coincidence becomes the alliance’s governing attitude: the two treat the anomaly neither as proof of an impending disaster nor as something safe to ignore. The investigation is an act of preparation undertaken before certainty is available.

Vivi admits that she is not primarily a researcher and that her specialty lies in practical applications. For that reason, she had already asked Marcus to contact the Institute, then came personally to Aeris because he was among the people she could still trust after a century without contact. Her choice establishes a division of strengths. Vivi can observe, experiment, design, and act directly, while Aeris can interpret difficult principles and connect them to the accumulated knowledge of magical institutions.

Vivi gives Aeris a notebook containing her theories and experimental designs, asking him to determine whether they are useful. She is certain that dimensional magic exists and argues that it should be studied so the world can prepare if another calamity becomes possible. Aeris initially becomes absorbed in the notebook, then promises to help without treating the request as a burden. He reports that Vivi’s diagrams have already left the Institute’s elites agitated and that even he was confounded at first, although he believes he now understands the concepts she intended to convey.

The partnership is not based on Aeris possessing complete answers. Vivi explicitly values him as someone with whom she can discuss ideas, even if his contribution is only conversation and critique. Aeris, for his part, recognizes that the request is an effort to prevent another disaster rather than an academic exercise. Their research alliance thus combines practical experimentation with interpretive caution: her unusual power supplies access to phenomena others cannot reach, while his experience gives those phenomena a framework in which they can be examined.

Direct Examination of the Breach

Vivi offers Aeris more than written evidence. Before leaving, she asks whether he would like to see the anomaly itself, explaining that direct observation could clarify the material in her notebook. Aeris calls the prospect humbling because Vivi can make the return journey herself through what she describes as merely eighteenth-tier magic. The contrast between her casual phrasing and his astonishment dramatizes the unequal scale of their abilities without diminishing his role. He remains valuable precisely because he can recognize the significance of what Vivi treats as routine.

At the site, Aeris studies the sky above Prismarche while Tatiana can barely identify the disturbance in the mana currents. Vivi explains that the damage looks worse than it is and that the boundary is repairing itself over time; Aeris would have learned more had he witnessed the fractures as they first appeared. His response turns the encounter into field research. He asks whether Vivi can hasten the repair, since a weakened barrier might allow a second spell or phenomenon to break through. Vivi says she has considered intervention but hesitates to experiment because of the possible repercussions, adding that her notebook contains a theory for an approach Aeris can evaluate.

The same exchange clarifies the limits that govern their cooperation. Aeris is fascinated enough to want to remain and take his own notes, but Vivi does not simply impose her power on the damaged boundary. She favors observation and theoretical review before attempting a repair. A Warp Anchor placed outside Aeris’s door also makes future visits possible, converting an extraordinary reunion into a continuing research arrangement. Aeris accepts that he will aid her in whatever manner he can, and the alliance acquires both a physical link and an ongoing method.

Meaning and Continuing Function

The relationship carries an implicit reversal. Once, Vivi and Aeris were comrades within a larger heroic campaign, united against visible Cataclysmic enemies. After Vivi’s return, their shared task is to understand an unstable boundary whose cause and consequences remain uncertain. The old alliance is therefore not preserved as nostalgia; it is repurposed for prevention. The world that celebrates the Party of Heroes as saviors must now rely on the surviving hero and an aging archmage to prepare for dangers that may not yet have a name.

Their reunion also exposes the scale of the danger through the reactions of those around them. Aeris, a six-century-old archmage, is shaken by Vivi’s appearance and later awed by the anomaly. Tatiana experiences the meeting as an encounter between two living legends, while the spectacle of Vivi’s later power is so overwhelming that observers interpret it as divine intervention rather than the work of the Sorceress. Against that background, Aeris’s usefulness lies not in matching Vivi’s strength but in refusing to let wonder replace inquiry. He receives the notebook, studies the breach, questions the risks, and remains willing to help.

The alliance consequently joins trust, memory, and disciplined uncertainty. Vivi returns to the person she considers dependable after a century of silence; Aeris responds not by demanding proof of her identity but by offering his labor. Their comradeship gives the research moral urgency, while their research gives the old comradeship a future-oriented purpose. Together, they stand at the point where the world’s completed heroic age meets the possibility of an eighth Cataclysm, trying to ensure that recognition, preparation, and shared expertise can intervene before another catastrophe becomes history.
